And so it begins!

Well, as promised the Ride for Semper Fi is back again for the 2009 ride to California!!!!  This years trip will take us basically on  the same route as last year with a slight twist at the end.  The slight twist at the end will be instead of going downhill for 15 miles towards Oceanside we will be climbing out of Julian, California (ughhhh) to begin our trek toward Balboa Park for a picnic with our injured heroes, the IMSFF, our families, friends, and supporters.

We are so excited to ride again in support of our friends at the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.  Angie and the others at the IMSFF continue to provide miracles for our young heroes everyday!  If you have not been to their website lately I would urge you to go to their site and look at all the great work they are doing (
www.semperfifund.org). I think you will be amazed at what they have accomplished and even more proud to be an American.  The Injured Marine Fund is proof that when ordinary citizens in this country dare to have a vision and a dream they can accomplish anything.  To date, the IMSFF has given more than 29 million dollars in grants to injured Marines, Sailors, and their families!!!  We are honored to be part of what they are accomplishing!

As for our campaign this year, we will begin our training and fund raising on July the 4th.  Thomas Paine once wrote "
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."  I don't know if this quote applies to a bicycle ride, but what I do know is that we have assembled a team of more than 32 riders for this year who share a common passion and belief that the sacrifices made by our injured  soldiers  warrant our support.  We will train and raise funds and awareness over the next  five months with the hope that our efforts and fatigue will result in our young heroes receiving the gift of a miracle through the Injured Marine Fund.

In closing I want to thank everyone for their support!  This has been and will be a great experience because of all the people who have given so much to make this ride possible!!!!!! See on you the road July 4th!!!!

God Bless and Semper Fi
